The Sugar Cube

The High Elf Castle · High Elf Castle

The castle is a breathing white-oak megastructure carved with acorns, backed against a rocky bluff and defended by four narrow magical towers.

Story so far

Elle names the huge white castle the Sugar Cube. What appears to be marble or stone is smooth, hot white wood, likely bleached oak, covered from base to roof in fingernail-sized acorn carvings. It feels ancient, magical, and almost alive.

A drained moat surrounds the rectangular cube because Imogen disliked its smell. Pencil-thin open towers occupy all four corners, each holding magic guards and a spiral stair accessible only from the third floor or roof. Below-ground levels connect to troll-filled caves, a secret entrance, dungeon, and the locked stairwell.

Gold-uniformed castle guards, white expedition soldiers, and black-and-gold queen's guards form distinct units. Signet intends to enter through the cave and hide in the dungeon despite production restrictions.
