Mongoliensis

Mongos · velociraptors · raptors

Feathered velociraptors, the jungle's fastest and most vicious pack predators, all of them female.

Story so far

Named for Mongo by Princess Donut, the mongoliensis are the sixth floor jungle's fastest, most vicious, and most clever predators. Forty of them ringed the clearing where Mongo bolted, ranging from level 30 to 45, with their leader Kiwi at level 60 — every one of them dwarfing Mongo's level 33. The system compares the pack to a gang of women convicts from a 1970s prison movie crossed with a coalition of cheetahs and a shoal of hangry piranhas, and jokes that no asteroid killed the dinosaurs so much as the ladies did.

Two details stood out to Carl. Every dinosaur in the area appears to be female. And dinosaur-class monsters did not exist in this region before Scolopendra's Nine-Tier Attack — so where they came from is an open question. They are classed as lizard mobs, taking and dealing 20% more damage against Carl thanks to his Extinction Sigil. Several wore scavenged non-magical scraps: Kiwi's own bloodied purple shawl, and similar items on a few others. Their barking call, an unk-unk-unk like a distorted seal, shakes the ground and paralyzes.

Appearance

Feathered velociraptors in pink and blue plumage, with ten-inch curved claws, chicken-like head bobs, and small arm wings they flap when excited.

Role

The dinosaur pack besieging Point Mongo and the subject of the Recital quest.
