Story so far

Children below a variable minimum age are not allowed to remain in the dungeon. The system removes them and places them with youth assistants until after the crawl, with thresholds depending on species and intelligence.

Mordecai says neither such children nor their assistants should be inside. Lucia's conversation with her named assistant Alexandro therefore has no normal explanation.
