Opposite Day Ring

Opposite Day · opposite-day

A multi-use counter ring reflects magic back at its source; matching rings make Community Pool and its counters ping-pong catastrophically.

Story so far

Prepotente wears an Opposite Day ring with five charges. When Viscount Fog counters Community Pool, the ring reflects the counter. Fog possesses a similar ring, so the spell and counter effects rebound between them repeatedly before either can react.

All but one of the jewels in Prepotente's ring are consumed. Repeated stuns compound into the Fragile state, Fog's magic is turned inside out, and the resulting burst makes nearby magical equipment behave unpredictably.

Appearance

A thick enchanted ring set with several expendable jewels; only one stone remains after the exchange.

Role

Opposite Day turns a clean infection-transfer plan into the reflected spell cascade trapping Prepotente.

Relationships

Prepotente — His ring expends four charges countering Fog's magic.

Viscount Fog — Fog's similar ring reflects the magic back again.

Community Pool — It causes the transfer spell and counters to ricochet.

Ring of Divine Suffering — The cascade's magical burst causes Prepotente's other ring to mark Miriam.
