Blood and Ink Elemental

blood-and-ink elemental

An animated tattoo facsimile created from a dead person's remains and Signet's memories of them.

Story so far

Edgar's rite combines Nadine's physical remains with Signet's personal memories, forming a small living image on Signet's thigh. The result is not the original person or soul, but a loving portrait that can move and change form.

The new elemental first appears as a frightened caterpillar, then becomes a female chee in a long skirt. Because Nadine loved Clint deeply, a child version of him also emerges from behind her skirt despite his body being unavailable.

Appearance

A small animated tattoo that shifts between a caterpillar and a young chee woman, accompanied by a hairy child.

Role

The elemental preserves relational memory while clearly distinguishing remembrance from resurrection.

Relationships

Nadine — Her remains and remembered likeness form the elemental's primary image.
Signet — Her memories shape and house the living portrait.
Clint — His child likeness appears within the elemental because Nadine carried his memory.
