Private Message Subscriptions

message eavesdropping subscription

A discontinued paid service that let viewers listen in on crawlers' private messages.

Story so far

Borant's announcement declared that, effective immediately, the subscription-based system letting viewers listen in on crawlers' private messages was discontinued — though Borant reserved the right to replay conversations during non-live broadcasts. Mordecai said "oh thank the gods," adding that he hadn't thought it would stick.

Carl had asked Quasar to sue on his behalf over the issue, and his attorney reported a case already working through the courts with roughly even odds. Carl was glad it succeeded. A related problem remains: hunters being fed information from outside the dungeon. Quasar promised to work that angle but was far less confident, so Carl was told to complain about it out loud as often as possible.

Role

A privacy invasion Carl fought through the courts, now rescinded but only partly.

Relationships

Quasar — Carl's attorney pursuing the litigation
Borant — Ran and then discontinued the subscription
Hunters — Still receive outside information, which remains unresolved
