The woodland hunting House of the Greatwoods, named for the huntress goddess, whose foragers Darrow courts against Minerva.
House Diana is the House of the huntress, dwelling deep in the Greatwoods among the colossal godTrees, its people berry-painted foragers who wear animal pelts, carry bows and boot-knives, and hunt the huge Carver-made bloodback bears. Led by the shrewd Tamara and troubled by the cruel Tactus, they blindfold and spin visitors to guard the way to their fortress, betraying it only by careless woodpecker noise that Darrow easily tracks. Their Proctor teaches them to sit back and let wildfire Houses like Mars burn themselves out.
When Darrow and Sevro come seeking alliance, Diana weighs his offer — help crush Minerva in exchange for aid taking Ceres and its bread — and edges toward the pact, hungry for something more than meat.
