The Red resistance named for the god of true wrath, keepers of the buried history the Golds erased.
Through Dancer, the Sons of Ares reveal themselves as more than bombers: a movement that recruits "outliers," the best of Red pulled from the mines, and remembers the history the Golds would bury. They take their name from Ares, the Greek god of rage, bloodlust, and massacre, against the Romans' whitewashed war-god Mars — pointing at the truth of the Society. Dancer recounts how Gold rose in the Conquering, butchering cities and continents, and how not long ago they reduced an entire world, Rhea, a moon of Saturn, to ash.
The Sons are "the sons of that wrath." Their Greens hijack broadcasts; their informers like Narol find outliers; and their aim is not empty vengeance but justice and the toppling of the whole Gold order. It is they who lifted Darrow from his grave to make him a weapon.
Marked by the glyph of Ares: a cruel spiked helmet with sunbursts exploding from the crown, blood dripping from the spikes. Operatives wear Octobernacht demon masks and bear the red Sigil, hiding among ordinary Reds.
Insurgent enemy of the Society and keeper of erased history, recruiting Darrow to its cause.
