Lambton

the little town of Lambton

A small Derbyshire town from Mrs. Gardiner's youth, Lambton becomes the Gardiners' base near Pemberley.

Story so far

Lambton is the little Derbyshire town where Mrs. Gardiner formerly spent several years and where she has lately learned that old acquaintances remain. After touring other parts of the county, she and Mr. Gardiner bring Elizabeth Bennet there for a few days.

The town lies within five miles of Pemberley, placing Darcy's estate close enough for the Gardiners to consider visiting it. Lambton is therefore both a place of Mrs. Gardiner's personal memory and the practical threshold of Elizabeth's next encounter with the Darcy world.
