Louisa Hurst, Caroline's fashionable ally, who joins in both musical display and the effort to isolate Elizabeth from Darcy.
Louisa Hurst, Bingley's fashionable married sister, spends part of the day with the recovering Jane Bennet and later observes the Netherfield party. She sings with Caroline Bingley after Caroline takes the pianoforte, joining the accomplished display that Elizabeth declines to lead.
On the following walk, Louisa has run out with Caroline and Darcy without informing Elizabeth, then takes Darcy's free arm so that the narrow path leaves Elizabeth alone. Darcy notices the rudeness and proposes moving into the avenue, but Elizabeth leaves by choice. Louisa remains Caroline's quiet but active ally in making Elizabeth feel socially excluded.
She is rather handsome, a fine woman with an air of decided fashion, and wears an elegant gown with noticeable lace. Her features, hair, complexion, and build are not yet given.
She is Caroline Bingley's allied sister and a participant in the subtle exclusion of Elizabeth at Netherfield.
