Kasik

Lieutenant Kasik · Singh's aide · Junior lieutenant

Singh's overworked young aide confirms the gate amplification discovery, then dies from the assassin's bullet intended for his governor.

Story so far

Kasik is a junior lieutenant pulled from the Gathering Storm's administration pool to serve Governor Santiago Singh. He manages the occupation schedule, fetches documents and drinks, absorbs sharp lectures about Laconian example, and rapidly assembles technical analysis of the gate reaction. His report establishes that the ring system amplified the Tempest's field-projector input by orders of magnitude, rather than merely converting it into gamma radiation.

During Onni Langstiver's attack, a bullet strikes Kasik in the back of the head, crosses the base of his skull and mouth, and leaves Singh spattered with blood. Kasik remains standing and twitching for a moment before medical response arrives. He dies on an operating table three hours later. Singh refers to the finding as confirmed by his own staff and privately understands the dead aide as the first sacrifice of his command.

Appearance

A young Laconian junior officer in a neat naval uniform, often hurrying with an expanded monitor or preparing his governor's drink; his uninjured features are not described.

Role

Kasik is Singh's administrative aide and the occupation's first fatality, whose technical work and death accelerate both the imperial timetable and the governor's radicalization.

Relationships

Santiago Singh — Santiago Singh disciplines, depends upon, and then cannot emotionally absorb the sudden murder of his aide.
Ring-Gate Gamma Burst — The Ring-Gate Gamma Burst is the phenomenon Kasik's technical team confirms as exponentially amplified by the alien network.
Onni Langstiver — Onni Langstiver leads the attack whose bullet kills Kasik while attempting to assassinate Singh.
