Medina Rail Gun Network

Medina rail guns · Hub-station rail-gun battery · Central rail-gun emplacements

Medina's supposedly decisive battery wounds the Tempest only briefly before one magnetic strike tears every emplacement from the hub.

Story so far

At Bobbie Draper's command, three of Medina's six hub-mounted rail guns fire on the Heart of the Tempest. Their rounds strike and open large holes, proving the flagship can be penetrated, but the alien-grown hull closes almost as quickly as damage appears. Conventional firepower cannot convert impact into lasting impairment.

The Tempest answers with its Magnetic Field Weapon. All six guns rip free of the immovable alien sphere, tumble away, and fracture into clouds of ceramic debris. The fixed network on which Onni Langstiver and union intelligence based Medina's security is eliminated in one attack, leaving the slow-zone hub without its strategic defense.

Appearance

Six massive rail-gun emplacements torn from the central alien sphere and reduced to spinning wreckage and expanding clouds of shattered ceramic.

Role

The network's destruction removes Medina's deterrent and demonstrates that Laconian self-repair and magnetic force defeat the strongest conventional defense in the hub.
