State Building of Laconia

State Building · Medical wing

Duarte's immense but austere seat of government embodies a regime that presents absolute power as serious, practical work.

Story so far

The State Building towers over Laconia's capital, a massive stone structure whose scale feels protective rather than ostentatious. A high wall, narrow gate, scans, and soldiers in powered armor secure its empty approach. To Paolo Cortazár, its lack of palace glitter reflects Winston Duarte's unusual absence of pretension.

In the building's medical wing, Cortazár administers protomolecule-modified stem cells to Duarte and scans the new organs growing inside him. The restrained clinical setting houses an experiment intended to turn the state's current ruler into its permanent one.

Appearance

A monumental stone government building rising over Laconia's capital, approached along a broad empty street through a high wall, narrow guarded gate, quiet courtyard, and deeply secured medical wing.

Role

The State Building is the administrative center of Laconia and the secure site of Duarte's transformation.
