Leonide reveals how the explorer fell, then tries to reclaim authority through a hostage bargain that Murderbot dismantles without bloodshed.
Supervisor Leonide receives Arada, Murderbot, and Eletra aboard the damaged Barish-Estranza Supply Transport. She explains that the explorer’s contact party used the colony Space Dock drop box, returned compromised fifty-eight hours later, and forced the remaining crew into captivity. A warning burst from one of the explorer’s SecUnits let the supply transport cut its networks just before the captured vessel attacked and crippled it. She accepts Eletra’s extracted implant as a possible explanation for the coercion and shares a brief image of the divergent attackers.
Arada’s account confirms that the same group captured part of ART’s crew and likely sought another wormhole-capable ship. Discussion of alien remnants and Barish-Estranza’s ownership claim makes Leonide guarded again. After the repair cargo is unloaded, she tries to bargain over Arada’s return, apparently attempting to prove control before subordinates who heard her reveal damaging information.
Murderbot seizes guard Jete, locks Leonide away from her ship’s systems, and turns ART’s weapons toward the bridge. Leonide protests the illegality of an autonomous SecUnit controlling proprietary systems, but she has no useful counter. She concedes safe passage and transmits payment, allowing the visitors to leave unharmed while the supply transport remains stranded.
Leonide is an augmented adult woman with smooth, cosmetically enhanced medium-brown skin and dark hair wrapped atop her head. Small metallic pieces and gemstones decorate one exposed ear; her red-and-brown corporate uniform and controlled expression project authority despite fatigue.
Leonide is both the most informative corporate witness and an embodiment of the coercive authority shaping the expedition. Her failed hostage maneuver ends the alliance before it begins but supplies the route to the colony dock.
