Konecheck

A voluntarily modified violent prisoner who aids the Pit escape until he murders guards and is thrown back into the shaft by Amos.

Story so far

Konecheck is a tall, iron-bearded inmate in The Pit whose combat modifications can be removed only if he chooses, making his continued confinement partly a decision to remain dangerous. During the earthquake evacuation, his augmented strength is indispensable: he peels open steel panels to expose an elevator-shaft ladder no ordinary person could use.

Once guard Sullivan is no longer useful, Konecheck claims the man slipped and lets him fall. At the surface he kills Morris, attacks Amos Burton, and nearly throws him down the shaft. Clarissa Mao shoots him, and Amos drives him back into the Pit with a brutal kick. He is left falling into the ruined prison, with his survival unknown.

Appearance

A tall thin man with long iron-gray hair, a flowing iron-colored beard, a swollen bruised face, and a body modified for abnormal speed and strength.

Role

Konecheck is the immediate physical danger of the Pit escape, useful only until his appetite for violence makes him a threat to everyone around him.

Relationships

Amos Burton — Amos Burton uses Konecheck's strength to escape, then defeats him when he turns murderous.
Clarissa Mao — Clarissa Mao shoots Konecheck to interrupt his attack on Amos.
