The Ash Lord, Magnus au Grimmus, was ArchImperator to the fallen Sovereign Octavia and remains the supreme commander of the Society's loyalist remnant. Infamous for genocidal war-making—he once ashed a rebel moon—he has fought Darrow's Republic for a decade. Now, after the loss of Mercury, his battered fleet is pushed back to his last bastion, the fortress planet Venus, guarding its precious docks and the remaining Gold loyalists.
He is the enemy Darrow means to destroy in one final campaign, and though he has not risked a major fleet over Mars in years, his ground armies still infest whole continents. His daughter is Atalantia au Grimmus.
An aged Gold warlord, described in the war's lore as a towering iron-skinned figure of grim menace; not present in person, only invoked as the enemy behind Venus.
