Tellus

the transient-housing bot · the hostel bot

Tellus joins the station’s bots in confronting the CombatBot, completing the chain of cooperation it began by identifying Lutran.

Story so far

Tellus is the free six-armed transient-housing bot whose visual records and privacy-conscious room inspection helped Murderbot identify Lutran. Its suggestion to check arrivals led Murderbot to the damaged transport, beginning the chain that exposed the refugee route.

When Balin’s hidden CombatBot function fights Murderbot on the Public Docks, Tellus comes from the hostel to stand with JollyBaby, cargo machines, medical bots, and general-purpose bots at the Port Authority entrance. The gathering neither threatens nor attacks. By making clear that the violent intruder has lost the bot network’s acceptance, Tellus helps force Balin into shutdown.

Appearance

A functional humanform service bot with six arms, body-mounted sensors, and a flat disk head that rotates and extends for scanning.

Role

Tellus closes the case as both its first nonhuman investigator and a member of the collective that rejects corporate violence hidden inside a fellow bot.

Relationships

Murderbot — Murderbot follows Tellus’s first investigative insight and later finds it standing among the machines that protect the SecUnit.
JollyBaby — JollyBaby and Tellus join different station bot communities into one silent barrier.
Balin — Balin’s CombatBot function is treated by Tellus as an intruder outside the network’s community.
