The predatory corporation, now exposed and besieged after its hostage scheme fails and the bond company declares war.
GrayCris, the series' principal corporate antagonist, drove book four by abducting Dr. Mensah and demanding a ransom to pay off the Company, desperate because it could no longer sell the alien remnants Murderbot exposed at Milu. When Mensah's rescue and the failed hostage grab escalated, GrayCris fielded Palisade SecUnits, a Combat SecUnit, and finally the Attacker, a neural-tissue construct, against the escaping gunship—believing Murderbot still carried the Milu evidence and the Wilken and Gerth blackmail clip. All of it failed.
By the book's end GrayCris is reeling: the bond company, enraged by the attack on its expensive gunship, has effectively declared war on it, and a coalition of other corporations and political entities has turned against it as the Milu data and Wilken and Gerth's clip—showing executives in possession of illegal alien remnants—go public across the newsfeeds. Wounded, exposed, and abandoned by profit, GrayCris is left to be torn apart by the rivals it provoked.
An organization, not a person; represented by logos, litigation, hired mercenaries, and now damning public evidence.
