Chapter 20

The chopper is a coal-fueled powered bicycle with an alligator-skull seat and sidecar that is pedaled to speed then locked in via a throttle, and its built-in engine grows dangerously hot.

The Chopper runs on lumps of coal, getting about three to four miles per lump, and travels roughly 20 mph with Carl learning to read its sounds and vibrations.
