Story so far
The Dracula Hunters reach Varna by Orient Express before the Czarina Catherine is expected, arrange official cooperation, and wait to board as soon as the ship enters harbor. Twice-daily trances continue to report waves and creaking masts.
The planned ambush fails when news arrives that the vessel has passed Varna and entered the Danube at Galatz. Dracula has changed course under fog, using knowledge gained through Mina to evade the waiting party.
Appearance
A Black Sea port with harbor officials, hotels, telegraph offices, quays, and access to rail and shipping routes toward the Danube.
Role
Varna is the hunters' intended interception point and the site of their sharpest strategic defeat when Dracula redirects his ship.
