Ivers Thorrsen

The Israel's lone Belter analyst, tracking the planet's ominous new heat upwellings while being singled out for anti-Belter harassment aboard ship.

Story so far

Ivers Thorrsen is a geosensor analyst aboard the Edward Israel, a highly-credentialed Belter (degrees from Luna and Ganymede) who out-earns Dimitri Havelock many times over and whose low-g body could almost pass for an Earther's. He reports the mounting alien activity on Ilus: alongside the energy spikes, twenty heat upwellings have appeared in the last eighty hours, all unexplained, and insists it may matter and must be investigated. But he is also the only Belter on his team, and someone has sprayed urine in his locker three days running.

He brings both grievances to Havelock, angry and cornered, framing the harassment as anti-Belter singling-out; Havelock at first tries to soften it as general pressure-venting, but Thorrsen holds his ground — 'if you were the only Earther, you'd feel different' — a line that ultimately moves Havelock to name and forbid the harassment.

Appearance

A Belter whose microgravity build is unusually mild — a slightly oversized head, a spine and legs a little long and thin, but with exercise almost Earther-passing; here tense, thin-lipped, arms folded in cold anger.

Role

RCE geosensor analyst; the scientific tracker of the planet's escalating alien signatures and the ship's flashpoint for Belter–Earther tension.

Relationships

Dimitri Havelock — The security head he confronts over both the alien upwellings and the anti-Belter harassment, finally swaying him.
Ilus — The world whose new heat upwellings and energy spikes he monitors and warns about.
