Hunting Season

bounty hunting season · the bounties

With the leaderboard populated, open season is declared on the top ten — kill one, claim their bounty box.

Story so far

On the fourth floor the daily announcement declares 'hunting season' open: each of the top-ten crawlers now carries a bounty (from Carl and Princess-Donut's 100,000 up to Lucia-Mar's 1,000,000), and killing one yields a loot box worth that reward. Leaderboard members are fair game to one another too, and survivors collect a growing percentage of their own bounty each floor they live through (10% this floor). Coming right as Borant scolds the crawlers to 'quit sucking,' it turns the ranked crawlers into mutual targets — unsettling Princess-Donut, who hates the idea of no longer trusting people, and adding lethal pressure atop the floor's navigation and grind.

Role

A game-wide mechanic turning the leaderboard elite into hunted (and hunting) targets.
