Story so far
Puppy Dog is a passive buff granted by very high Charisma (100+), which Tsarina Signet carries. It makes men mad with desire simply by being in her presence — a weak effect at first that worsens the longer the exposure. It is not a true Charm spell, so its victim can still notice and question it.
Mordecai told Carl the one surefire counter: fracture your own finger fast (without ripping it off), which snaps the spell like a bucket of cold water. Carl broke his left pinky to escape Signet's effect. The insidious danger is that by the time one is fully charmed, one no longer realizes it.
