Errinwright

Errinwright is finished — quietly celebrated, his UN career 'honored' in a small private ceremony, then retired with extreme prejudice into powerless obscurity.

Story so far

With his cabal exposed and Nguyen dead, Errinwright loses Avasarala's game for good. Back on Earth he is 'quietly celebrated,' his UN career honored with a small private ceremony, and then eased out — retired 'with extreme prejudice' to spend his remaining decades with his family or farming chickens, whatever he chooses, so long as it never again involves wielding political power. As Avasarala frames it, she took him out of the game and stayed in; his vast portfolio and direct line to the Secretary-General now pass to her.

The architect of the whole conspiracy escapes prison but not oblivion — undone not by trial but by the machinery of face-saving politics he once mastered.

Appearance

A political operator reduced to a retiree; no new physical description — last seen as a tired, threatening man whose menace is now spent.

Role

Deposed UN conspiracy architect, quietly forced into powerless retirement.

Relationships

Avasarala — The rival who beat him and inherits his job and power as he is retired into obscurity.
Nguyen — His dead instrument, whose end helped seal his own downfall.
Sorrento-Gillis — The Secretary-General whose move against his faction finished him.
