Liang Goodfortune

Goodfortune

A wary OPA leader drawn to Tycho by an amnesty offer for their imprisoned daughter, Liang reads the summit's hidden target at once.

Story so far

Liang Goodfortune is an OPA leader whom Fred Johnson persuaded to attend the summit by offering amnesty for their daughter, a former OPA hitter held in a numbers-only prison on Luna. They arrive at Tycho Station willing to listen but with no reason to extend trust automatically to James Holden or the inner-planet coalition behind him.

Goodfortune needles Holden that Marco has a habit of losing women to him, but their more important intervention is strategic. Hearing that details are withheld until loyalty is pledged, they identify Medina Station as the likely objective. The accurate inference proves that the delegates cannot be managed merely with vague assurances and that any future commitment will be an informed political calculation.

Appearance

An adult Belter leader whose detailed physical appearance is not described; their presence is controlled, observant, and marked by a precise, skeptical speaking style.

Role

Liang represents an OPA constituency whose participation is bound to both family stakes and a clear-eyed demand for the real strategy.

Relationships

[[Fred Johnson]] — Fred's offer of amnesty for Liang's imprisoned daughter is what brings them to the summit.
[[James Holden]] — They test Holden's credibility and correctly identify Medina as central to the concealed plan.
[[OPA summit]] — Their presence makes the meeting's promises accountable to people with concrete, unresolved grievances.
