Callisto

The Free Navy repair refuge becomes the place where Filip confronts the civilian cost of his raid and quietly leaves his father's fleet.

Story so far

Callisto is a scarred Jovian moon and shipyard complex where the damaged Pella repairs beside the surviving evidence of Filip's earlier Free Navy raid. Its broad pale corridors, heaters, civilian traffic, warehouses, and docks remain a functioning home rather than the simple Martian military target Filip once imagined.

A young local woman recounts sheltering during the attack and losing her mother when a cracked shelter failed, making clear that the obliterated Martian yard tore through the same small moon as everyone else. As Marco gathers ships for a counterstrike on Medina, Callisto's civilian dock concourse gives Filip another possible life: he throws away his gun and terminal, approaches an employment broker, and signs the work form as Filip Nagata rather than returning to the Pella. The station is therefore both a Free Navy logistical base and the ordinary inhabited place that lets Marco's son step out of its story.

Appearance

A cold Jovian-moon settlement of wide pale honeycomb-patterned corridors, overhead heater banks, warehouse yards, welding-and-oil-smelling docks, tube transit, civilian kiosks, and a mixed military-civilian concourse.

Role

Callisto is a Free Navy repair and assembly point whose civilians preserve the human consequences that revolutionary military rhetoric tries to erase.

Relationships

[[Pella]] — Marco's damaged flagship refuels and completes repairs in its military yard before the rushed Medina burn.
[[Filip Inaros]] — Its survivors' stories and unglamorous civilian infrastructure become the setting for his break with Marco.
[[Marco Inaros]] — He uses Callisto as a staging point for a fleet-scale counterattack while its own history contradicts his clean story of justified violence.
