Cohen confesses to planting the hijacker for an unnamed wealthy woman, models Clarissa's face, and is confined in the airlock under Amos's cold judgment.
After Amos Burton finds the physical transmitter, Cohen admits a wealthy young woman with a pleasant voice paid him to plant the rig. He thought it would spy on James Holden's communications, not seize the Rocinante, broadcast mass murder, and place him aboard a target. He claims he met her only once and that she somehow arranged Monica Stuart's documentary contract to give him access.
Cohen isolates himself from Monica, Okju, and Clip before confessing so they will not share punishment. Using his effects software, he sculpts the employer from memory. Holden sees the finished monochrome face and misidentifies Clarissa Mao as her dead sister Julie Mao. Amos throws Cohen into the airlock, the ship's nearest equivalent to a brig. His survival now depends less on Holden's restraint than on whether Amos can move past betrayal.
Cohen is a blind older man with short white hair, opaque sonar-interface glasses, yellowed teeth, and a gentle expression now made ill by fear and confession.
Cohen is the confessed access agent whose memory gives the crew its first image of Clarissa, even as resemblance sends Holden toward the wrong identity.
