Half Suit Exoskeleton

half-suit exoskeleton mech · half mech · the mech · industrial mech · yellow mech

A stolen yellow upper-body mech lets Clarissa tear open the Rocinante and overpower Naomi, but turns into a rigid cage when Anna shocks its operator.

Story so far

The Thomas Prince carries a lightweight industrial exoskeleton designed to fit over a worker's chest and arms. Clarissa Mao checks it out using stolen officer access and carries its nearly fifty-kilogram mass across vacuum with a portable airlock. The machine is bright yellow, labeled with cautions in three alphabets, and controlled through hand waldoes. It was not designed for violence, but its strength suits sabotage.

Clarissa fastens it to the Rocinante, uses a cutting torch to start a breach, and then peels the repaired cargo door open in long metal strips. Inside engineering, its claw crushes handholds, breaks Naomi Nagata's shoulder, throws her across the compartment, and finally closes around her throat. When Anna Volovodov fires a military taser into Clarissa, the operator's muscles seize and the mech freezes with its arms spread, releasing Naomi and leaving Clarissa cruciform inside the machine.

Appearance

The exoskeleton is fresh-lemon yellow with black caution text in three alphabets, a frame strapped over chest and arms, powerful jointed claws, hand waldoes, and no lower-body support.

Role

The half-suit is the breach and assault tool that makes Clarissa physically dominant without combat drugs, then becomes the frame in which she is immobilized.
