Meld

A mind-and-body joining spell where one creature consumes and absorbs another, the caster's personality staying dominant.

Story so far

Meld is a joining spell the fleshmancer Grigori describes when explaining how he might reunite the two halves of Corcunda. Unlike the balanced fusion he intends for Corky and Porky, Meld is inherently one-sided: a creature consumes and joins with another, and the caster — the party instituting the spell — remains the dominant personality. Slimes use the process, as do many demons and some succubae; some versions are permanent and some temporary.

When a permanent Meld is later regretted, the victim seeks out a specialist like Grigori to undo it — 'fixing other people's mistakes' being his stated craft. The spell frames the risk of Corcunda's own reunion: which personality survives a merge is never guaranteed.

Role

A consumptive mind-joining spell Grigori cites as the dominant-personality cousin of Corcunda's intended fusion.
