Story so far
Holston breathed circulating oxygen inside his helmet while the airlock filled with argon, but its visor was an electronic display rather than transparent glass. It concealed what he stumbled into and eventually flickered dark. Cleaners are shown green grass, blue sky and a glittering city, while dead cleaners appear as rocks. The projection ends beyond the familiar landscape visible from the silo.
Juliette wore a helmet attached to a metal collar, with a viewing pane roughly eight inches by two inches. After reaching the neighboring silo, she used a knife to release catches her thick gloves could not operate. She later suspected the screen had also made her surroundings darker. On her return to her home silo, her clear helmet dome pops and warps in the airlock fire.
Appearance
The earlier helmet has dark visor glass and a metal collar attachment. Juliette’s return helmet has a clear dome that deforms under extreme heat.
Role
It provides breathing enclosure and, in the cleaning configuration, a deceptive electronic landscape.
