Server Room

The fortified server room houses inter-silo communications and concealed access below, while its automatic locks keep Lukas confined.

Story so far

The server room lies behind the silo’s most heavily fortified door, with access requiring Bernard Holland’s card and a code. Cool air arrives from the down deep, while fans carry server heat toward the triple-digit levels. A movable floor grate conceals a ladder into rooms below.

An empty rear server houses the communications uplink and the locking handle for the ladderway. A pulsing red light alerts Lukas to arrivals above his quarters. Peter Billings is permitted no farther than the doorway, and Lukas experiences the room as a prison, varying his routes among the servers to relieve the monotony. The heavy door locks electrically and automatically when closed, including when Bernard leaves.

Appearance

A fortified room containing rows of servers, cooling and exhaust fans, a heavy automatically locking door, and a concealed ladder beneath a movable floor grate.

Role

A protected data and communications center that also controls access to hidden quarters.
