Distant City

Atlanta

The distant city, associated with the label Atlanta, is a crumbling landmark Juliette uses to navigate her return.

Story so far

A skyline of decaying glass-and-steel buildings rises beyond the hills. Residents suspect these buildings once housed people aboveground. Holston saw familiar skyscrapers as whole and shining through his helmet, but the city itself was decayed. When Juliette crossed beyond her visor’s projection, ruined lower buildings became visible.

Samson named the city as Juliette’s destination after she vanished beyond the hill. The name Atlanta appears beneath building shapes on Bernard’s chart. On her return journey, Juliette uses the visibly crumbling city as a landmark.

Appearance

Ancient, crumbling spires and ruined lower buildings form a distant skyline beyond the hills.

Role

It is an outside landmark whose actual ruins differ from the shining city presented through a cleaner’s visor.

Relationships

Juliette — Juliette uses the ruined city as a landmark during her return journey.
Holston — Holston saw its familiar skyscrapers falsely presented as whole and shining.
