Neighboring Silo Sump Pumps

The submerged sump pumps remain a proposed drainage solution; Juliette has connected replacement wiring to one but left without testing it.

Story so far

Juliette identified the pumps in sump basins at the very bottom of the silo as a possible repair target. She believed their simple construction and intended submersion meant they should still work. Her plan was to power them from IT at twenty-four volts, with a landing switch allowing Solo to test the supply while she worked below; she intended to descend with the wires switched off.

She connected replacement power wires to a submerged pump without knowing whether its impeller was sound. Its outflow pipe ran up the wall into overhead mechanical lines. She worried that a tug could break her improvised ground connection and ultimately left the newly wired pump without testing it. Its ability to run remains unknown.

Appearance

Submerged pumps sit in sump basins at the bottom of the silo. One has replacement power wires and an improvised ground connection, with an outflow pipe rising into overhead mechanical lines.

Role

A potential drainage system whose restored operation has not yet been established.

Relationships

Juliette — Juliette has rewired one pump but has not tested it.
Solo — Solo was to use the landing switch to test power while Juliette worked below.
