The Dream

Dream Elves · The Dream cruiser

Elven power whose cruiser crashes onto Earth over Australia, one of the disasters filling the epilogue's news feeds.

Story so far

The Dream's presence at the end of the book is a wreck. Among the headlines competing for attention on York's news feeds - a new Prime Minister, a mass suicide in one of the Nebular colonies, and above all a mantis system going boom - is the crash of a Dream cruiser onto the surface of Earth, over the continent of Australia.

Zander, watching the same news from Squirties, sees it as one item in a general collapse: ships shooting at each other again, a Dream cruiser down on the planet, a number of other ships crashed as well, and a fringe former-crawler group mouthing off with more shooting probably to come. He has seen war before, and knows what it means for someone who sells fuel - war fleets do not buy it, they take it.

Role

A great power reduced, in the epilogue, to a headline about a cruiser burning on Earth.
