Story so far

"Cheese Stick" is what everyone in the crawler army calls the enemy soldiers. Carl admits he has no idea where the term originated, only that it spread through the army like wildfire; he has already seen several "Fuck Cheese Sticks" tattoos among the troops.

Boomer uses it constantly, opening the southern assault briefing with a promise to "pluck some cheese sticks" and warning that the Epitome Household Guard are the cheese sticks Carl really has to look out for.
