Jimmy’s long black rifle has served him through years of isolation and conflict. He has now retrieved it from above an apartment ceiling panel.
Jimmy reached for a long black gun when asking to accompany his father; the gun left with him was the same kind his father used to kill Yani. His early experimentation put a hole in the ceiling, and its ammunition holder’s stiff spring made loading difficult. Before leaving his refuge, he dismantled, oiled, and reassembled his favorite rifle and loaded two clips from ammunition he considered lucky because few rounds had failed or jammed.
Solo used the rifle to shoot at a locked Supply entrance, and it discharged against a doorjamb as he fled. It later took in water during a fall into the flooding. After years without firing it, Jimmy used his rifle against two intruders. He subsequently left his gun behind, considering it no longer useful. Jimmy now retrieves the black rifle from above an apartment’s ceiling panel.
