Story so far
Juliette takes the knife from a kitchen rack in the neighboring silo. She uses it to cut free of her suit, prop doors open, and turn a tablecloth into clothing. After she leaves it outside the dirt farm, it vanishes; she doubts its broad handle could fit through the grating and realizes the fleeing person has taken it.
The knife later rides in a thick pocket and homemade sheath across her diving suit’s belly. She uses it to reach and cut her weight straps, release her helmet underwater, cut through the suit’s fastening, and strike the compressor’s heat exchanger to ignite fuel. What began as a cooking utensil becomes an essential source of security, and she continues carrying it.
