The former holding cell, once a place of confinement with an outside wallscreen, now provides further washing after airlock decontamination.
The holding cell was usually entered only for cleaning when no prisoner occupied it. Holston entered voluntarily and handed Marnes the key through the bars. Its cot and toilet stood beside a wall-sized outside display whose view was clearer than the cafeteria’s, showing brown hills, gray sky, and dark clouds.
The cell was empty when Jahns and Marnes prepared to travel and again when Juliette was brought back from the airlock. It is now used for additional showering after the Inner Airlock decontamination procedure.
