Celestial Grenade

the orb · god-summoning grenade

A rare grenade that summons a god to a location for sixty seconds — Maggie's Skull Empire-funded weapon against Carl.

Story so far

The Celestial Grenade is the spiked ball Maggie My means to detonate to kill Carl — which he grabs and pockets before it can trigger. Developed by the nuns of Enyo during the first enlightenment to "persuade" villages, it summons a deity for sixty seconds: if the wielder worships a specific god, it calls *their* god and grants the wielder a 60-second Divine Intervention aura; if the wielder is godless, it summons a random god with no such protection. Maggie, whose Infiltrator race apparently can't worship Grull, was armed to summon Algos, the god of pain, to slaughter everyone in town.

Mordecai is aghast at the extravagance — these are rare ninth-floor-tier items, "like trying to kill a bug with a kinetic strike" — proof the Skull Empire paid dearly, likely via a bribed saferoom meeting, to finally kill Carl and save face.

Appearance

A round, spiked ball resembling a grenade; does not register as a conventional explosive in the system.

Role

A god-summoning superweapon — the Skull Empire's over-the-top instrument for Carl's assassination.
