Shrink Wand

the shrinking wand

A single-charge wand that shrinks non-living objects down to button-size for five minutes without reducing their weight.

Story so far

The shrink wand is Zhang's emergency trump card, down to its last charge. It shrinks non-living things (never living creatures) once zapped, continuing to shrink until switched off or until the object reaches about button-size, and holds them small for five minutes — though the object keeps its full original weight. Zhang has used it to choke a boss by shrinking its spiked collar and, most spectacularly, to shrink an entire moving train (killing everyone aboard and jumping him six levels, plus a boss box and a multi-kill box).

At station 36 he spends the final charge to shrink Carl's interdiction cart small enough to roll through the narrow halls into the chamber, where it pops back to full size — making Carl's upside-down portal-crane trap possible.

Appearance

A slender magic wand; its shrinking effect starts on a zap and continues until the target is button-sized or the wand is switched off.

Role

A one-charge shrinking tool, the key that gets the trap-cart into the sealed chamber.

Relationships

Zhang — Its owner, who spends its last charge on Carl's cart.
Carl — Whose portal-crane trap the wand makes possible.
