Skull Empire
The orc empire led by King Rust — hunters of Carl, now sponsoring Katia through Princess Formidable amid a succession shake-up.
Story so far
The Skull Empire is the orc power that has hunted Carl since its crown prince Stalwart's failed assassination attempt — the botched hit that killed Manasa and drew Valtay Corporation retaliation against Prince Maestro. On The Iron Tangle it surfaces again as Katia Grim's sponsor via Princess Formidable, whom Carl suspects has risen in the line of succession if Stalwart was disowned. Ruled by King Rust, tied to the war god Grull, the empire remains a looming antagonist whose internal politics Carl watches warily.
Appearance
An orc empire known through its royals — King Rust, Prince Stalwart, Princess Formidable — and its skull iconography rather than a depicted realm.
Role
A hostile orc empire and, ambiguously, Katia's sponsoring power.
