Story so far
A few days earlier, while the party was still on the previous floor, Mordecai left several little square blocks of Nitro Sludge on Carl's Sapper's Table. They were a by-product of a shield potion he had been working on, and they look like squares of uncooked ramen noodles.
The blocks are completely inert on their own, but if vaporized at a high enough temperature they release an insane amount of oxygen — each block reportedly equivalent to several hundred pounds of ammonium nitrate despite their tiny mass. They are not explosive themselves; they act as an amplifier, and the ratio matters. Too little does nothing and too much actually mutes the explosion. After a lot of trial and error, Carl worked out the perfect mix and used it to build Just Wait Until Your Daddy Gets Home.
