Security Checkpoint
An orbital inspection chamber where Carl is scanned by a shade gnoll before entering the Valtay production vessel.
Story so far
Carl transfers into the same near-zero-gravity orbital environment used for previous external appearances. His interface is blacked out, and the translucent floor shows Earth far below, including a major fire near southern India.
An older shade gnoll with a quarter-moon insignia pulls Carl down, scans him for explosives, and declares him clear. Before transfer, the officer privately asks Carl to favor his grandpup Lix and offers to ignore future production-trailer thefts.
Appearance
A low-gravity metal chamber with a transparent floor overlooking Earth and a ceiling transfer hatch.
Role
The checkpoint enforces the new security regime while exposing corruption within it.
