Yenks

Yenk

Humanoid aliens with ridged foreheads and bony exoskeletons whose exiled males become bounty hunters and mercenaries.

Story so far

Mordecai identifies the hunter shot down over the town as a yenk using a levitation spell rather than a mantis, and therefore not Vrah or a member of the hive — and since he is a yenk, probably working alone. Carl describes them as humanoid aliens with ridged foreheads and bony exoskeletons, like malnourished Klingons only taller, an uncommon race he has spotted here and there in audiences, especially on the Maestro's show.

Their reproduction is famously strange: three genders are all required to make babies. Women and children live in peaceful communities alongside the unintelligent third gender, while males are forced out at maturity. Exiled males become powerful fighters, bounty hunters and mercenaries, but cannot work alongside other adult males of their kind without fighting, like betta fish. Crawler Ikicha, who wrote the eleventh edition of the cookbook, was a castrated yenk male, though he was light on details about what that meant. The hunter Bravvo is a level-50 yenk.
