Story so far
As Miriam Dom stroked Carl's hair in the back of the cart, he received the notification: 'You have been Soothed! Everything hurts a little less. Debuffs are 10% less effective.' It blunted the misery of Sore as Shit without removing it.
The effect fit her class of Shepherd and her motherly manner — a maternal comfort rendered as a mechanical buff, which Carl found weird and kinda nice at the same time.
