The Covered Bridge

the bridge to Point Mongo

The river crossing into Point Mongo, now guarded at both ends and ringed with alarms.

Story so far

The bridge is the last obstacle on the walk home and the chokepoint Mordecai has chosen to defend. A pair of mushroom guards now stands at each end of it, and the ground in front of it has been sown with a wide, randomly spread arc of Alarm Traps designed to fire only for pet-class mobs and Hunters; more alarms run along the slopes on both sides of the river, with naiad creatures added to their triggers.

Princess Donut has to negotiate with the guards before they will let Clint Smashgrab and Holger cross into Point Mongo at all. And it is standing on the bridge itself, mid-crossing, that the Admin Notice arrives and stops both crawlers dead: a third and final sponsor, The Apothecary.

Appearance

A bridge spanning the river into Point Mongo, flanked at each end by paired mushroom guards, with alarm traps hidden in a wide arc across the ground before it and along both wooded banks.

Role

Fortified entrance to Point Mongo, and the spot where the third-sponsor notification lands.

Relationships

Point Mongo — The settlement it leads into, and whose defenses now begin at its far end.
Mordecai — Fortified it with guards at both ends and layered alarm coverage across the approaches.
Mushroom People — Supply the paired guards at each end, who have to be talked into admitting the were-castors.
