The Naiad Confederacy

Naiad Confederacy

The nominal naiad government has become weak, high-elf-dependent, and unable to govern the wider population.

Story so far

Areson says naiad dissenters overthrew the old royal family only with covert high-elf aid. The coup ended open warfare, but the surviving naiads became almost subordinate to the high elves after Scolopendra's Nine-Tier Attack devastated their people.

The leaders at Fort Freedom now need high-elf permission for meaningful action and provide little governance. Outside the castle, ordinary naiads have returned to disorder, even as the fortress's defenders reveal a surprisingly lethal trap for Signet's assault.

Appearance

A diminished aquatic regime centered in a decaying, partially submerged fortress.

Role

The confederacy is both a failed government and the immediate military obstacle facing Signet.

Relationships

The High Elves — They enabled the coup and now dominate the weakened confederacy.
Signet — The confederacy killed her family and occupies her ancestral fortress.
Scolopendra's Nine-Tier Attack — Its devastation left the naiad population reduced and dependent.
