Hunter Lawsuit

the court injunction

Litigation from outside the dungeon that just took the hunters' phones away.

Story so far

The legal war being fought over the crawl produces its first visible result. The AI announces that because of public concern and outcry, and because of a new court injunction that the production fully supports, changes have been implemented that do not affect crawlers directly but will have a major impact on the Hunters: they may no longer communicate directly with anyone outside the dungeon. Some parties, she says, were concerned the hunters had an unfair advantage — and the production agrees.

Her own gloss gives away the fight underneath. Boy, this really made some of them angry, she says. Maybe that will teach them not to try to sue us so much. The hunters have been suing the production; someone sued back, or sued better, and the injunction landed on them instead.

Carl knows exactly whose work it was. "Excellent," he says, and he and Princess Donut bump fist to paw — Quasar had come through, and the playing field is now much more level. It is the only development in a long announcement that helps them, and it came from a courtroom none of them will ever see.

Appearance

Abstract — the litigation exists only as its consequences, announced from the ceiling in a chipper voice.

Role

The off-world legal campaign whose injunction strips the hunters of outside communication mid-season.

Relationships

Quasar — The ally who came through; the injunction is the promise he made being kept.
Hunters — Its target and its loudest casualty — the production openly enjoys how furious it made them.
Borant — Publicly claims to fully support the injunction while needling the hunters for litigating so much.
