Hunter Release

The gates are down · Run, Run, Run

The moment the sequestered hunters are turned loose on the floor, announced by a system-wide countdown and alert.

Story so far

The chapter runs on the clock to the Hunter Release. Carl and Princess Donut had just under an hour when they reached the covered bridge, and only minutes by the time they reached Personal Space inside the saferoom. Carl had hoped for more preparation time but pressed on anyway, planning to claim the town and set its guards to defending the city.

Because bridges over the river had been knocked down — only about ten, fewer than Carl wanted — hunters unable to fly or teleport would be funneled toward the remaining crossings. Carl also planted claymore-like mines along the road, rigged to trigger only for Hunters, suspecting he was wasting his time but reasoning it couldn't hurt. The chapter closes on the announcement: attention, the gates are down, the hunters are loose. Run, run, run.

Role

The starting gun for the floor's hunt, ending the party's preparation window.
