Barish Estranza

B-E · Barish-Estranza corporation

A predatory corporation returns to claim the vulnerable colony, bringing explorers, armed SecUnits, and a veneer of lawful evaluation.

Story so far

Barish-Estranza sent an explorer to the lost colony during the alien-remnant crisis, only for the infected colonists to capture its personnel. One of its SecUnits, Three, achieved freedom and helped Murderbot destroy Target Control, while Preservation and university survivors prepared to dispute the corporation's claim to the colony.

Four day cycles after Dr. Mensah arrives with Preservation's responder, a second Barish-Estranza explorer enters the system with at least three SecUnits. It cannot legally be barred from evaluating the planet or speaking to colonists, so its parties range across the surface armed for contaminated machines. Its explorer tries to intimidate ART and retreats only when the research transport locks weapons; later Sub-Supervisor Dellcourt and a SecUnit interrupt the university team's router operation after destroying an infected agricultural bot with dangerously placed fire.

Appearance

Its surface teams wear red-brown branded environmental suits and travel with corporate SecUnits carrying heavy, nonstandard bot-killing weapons.

Role

Barish-Estranza is the principal institutional antagonist, seeking control of the colony while forcing its rivals to hide their strongest assets.

Relationships

Three — Three was Barish-Estranza property before disabling its governor module and refusing to return.
ART — ART has the power to destroy the corporate explorer but must conceal its intelligence and avoid escalating the legal contest into open war.
Murderbot — Murderbot regards the corporation as an immediate threat and must keep its own identity hidden from Barish-Estranza's SecUnits.
